Description
May 20, 2021 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time This live panel discussion will offer an opportunity to learn about effective Academic Integrity education practices from UBC Vancouver and Okanagan faculty members providing leadership in this area; the program will conclude by encouraging participants to ask questions and provide feedback regarding their needs for AI education support. The panelists: Dr. Simon Bates, Dr. Moberley Luger, Dr. Laurie McNeill, and Dr. Laura Patterson. As institutions of higher education prepare to increase in person instruction, mixed with online and hybrid, the panelists will share their thoughts about how our campuses and instructors can be intentional about designing and implementing Academic Integrity education. The panelists have been asked to speak to the following questions: • What are the most effective practices for creating a culture of integrity while teaching in person and online? • In particular, what actions or activities may promote “Bandwidth Recovery” – as the conference keynote calls it – for a diverse student body whose cognitive resources might be depleted due to the pandemic and other factors, such as racism? During the session, participants will be invited to ask questions and share ideas that can help UBC build on existing AI materials at the UBC Vancouver and Okanagan campuses.
